What is Prime Timers?

Let me introduce you to PRIME TIMERS. This worldwide organization was founded by Woody Baldwin, in Boston, on August 15, 1987, when 42 men attended the first meeting of the Prime Timers. Our membership has grown steadily until today BOSTON PRIME TIMERS numbers more than 295, and PRIME TIMERS WORLD WIDE has thousands of members and more than 50 chapters from Australia, to North America and Europe.

PRIME TIMERS is a brotherhood of mature gay and bisexual men and their friends who join together for social, educational, and cultural activities.  Our diverse membership, some retired, some still working, are involved and focused on improving the image and quality of gay life through activities like volunteerism, politics, gay issues, arts, sports, and entertainment.

What do Prime Timers do?

In the Boston Chapter, members receive a copy of Prologue, the monthly news letter which includes articles and a calendar of events including the guest speaker and topic of our monthly meeting. Invitations are offered to parties at member's homes, lunches, dinners, national and international trips, courses of study, theater, concerts, swims, bowling, bridge, and dozens of other activities.

As a member of PRIME TIMERS, you have the opportunity to network with other members who share your interests by completing our interest and talent/skills profiles which will be included in our Confidential Membership Roster. Almost all of our members choose to be listed in our CONFIDENTIAL Roster. However, if you choose not to include your name and interests, you will not receive a copy of the Roster.

Your membership in Boston Prime Timers opens the door to Prime Timers World Wide. For example you are invited to attend national conventions, travel to cities and countries on three continents, or host international guests at your home.

In Boston our general meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month (except our August Anniversary and December Holiday events) from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the United South End Settlements, 566 Columbus Ave, in Boston's South End at the corner of Massachusetts Ave. The nearest subway stops are Mass Ave. (Orange line) and Symphony (Green line E train). Check us out. You are welcome to visit us TWICE at our general meetings, August Anniversary or December events before joining Boston Prime Timers.

Our membership dues are $25 per year ($45 for couples at one mailing address). See specifics and discounts on our Membership Application Form. The dues cover the cost of the newsletter and the annual membership roster. Members pay their own way at restaurants, theaters, concerts (often offered at group discount rates), and the $2 fee at meetings and house parties which covers office and meeting room rents and club overhead costs.
