one block west of our restaurant.)
After
dinner speaker, author Don Reuter.
Author Don Reuter will speak
about his new book, Greetings from the Gayborhood,
at the Chicago Prime Timers Open Social, Sunday
June 8.
The book is about changes in
gay neighborhoods in twelve U.S. cities with one
chapter about Chicago. It examines why gay males
chose to live where they did—and ponders where we
might be headed. It brings up the timely issue of
whether gay neighborhoods themselves are relevant.
In this age of assimilation, gentrification—and
cyber-connectivity—perhaps the need is gone.
This will be the author’s “return engagement.” He
met twice with the group while the book was in
progress.
To be held at Ann Sather Restaurant, 909 W. Belmont,
the social starts at 6.p.m., followed by dinner and
the program at 7 p.m. Dinners are $20 for members
and $25 for non-members. No reservations are
necessary. Those wishing to enjoy alcoholic
beverages are asked to bring their own bottle;
set-ups are $1. Free parking is available in the
restaurant’s parking lot.
Books will be available for
autographing by the author; $20 cash. A portion of
the book sales at the event goes to CPT’s Annual
Charitable Giving Fund.
