Edmonton Prime Timers
Edmonton Prime Timers is a chapter of Prime Timers Worldwide which is an international social organization for older gay and bisexual men and their younger friends over 21. All applications are subject to approval by the Board.
The purpose of Prime Timers is to provide opportunities for men to socialize and join together in various activities.
Our members are men who choose to have their social lives enriched by the diverse activities in which our members engage. No single definition can describe Prime Timers, as they come from all walks of life. Prime Timers involve themselves in their community with volunteerism, politics, gay issues, arts, entertainment, and every other facet of healthy living. We are businessmen, truck drivers, professionals, tradesmen, entrepreneurs, and office workers. Some Prime Timers work but others are retired. Some are always on the go while others enjoy the quiet company of friends at home. But one thing is true of all Prime Timers: they enjoy the opportunities and friendships that develop with other Prime Timers both locally and throughout the world.
Meetings are held on the second Sunday of the month (except July, August and December) at the Unitarian Church of Edmonton (10804 - 119th Street) at 3:00 pm. They feature a social period, a short business meeting, a guest speaker or discussion panel, and are followed by an optional supper at a restaurant.
In July we have a barbeque at a member's home and in August a picnic at a member's cottage. In December there is a catered
Christmas party in a local hall.
Throughout the year members also organize a wide range of special activities including theater nights, video nights, pub nights, Sunday brunches, dining out, day trips, and camping trips. Groups are started to meet other needs.
Prospective members are welcome to attend up to two meetings and/or activities as guests before being asked to join.
A monthly newsletter, available at the gallery page, is circulated to members and other Prime Timers groups. It gives details of the Edmonton Chapter's current and future programs, items of local interest, and information about other chapters' activities. It's available to members only and, along with our monthly newsletter and a photo gallery, is password protected.
Expenses are kept to a minimum and, except for some special activities, are covered by an annual membership fee of $30.00 for the period April 1st to March 31st. The fees are pro-rated semi-annually.
If you wish to become a member you may do so by filling out this membership form. You mail it, along with your cheque, to the address on the form or bring it to a meeting.
