Welcome to Prime Timers - Houston!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Prime Timers is a national organization promoting social activities for the older gay and bisexual male and those who like them. Our Houston chapter was founded by seven organizers in 1990. Many friendships and long term relationships have developed from our fun and games. Currently, we have over one hundred members ranging in age from mid-twenties to eighties!

Woody Baldwin, the founder of Prime Timers, recently made these observations about why Prime Timers is useful and fun:

• The older gay male grew up when our life style was best closeted.
• Having pursued a career and family, many were not familiar with gay life, and entrance into the life style was cumbersome and undirected.
• Activities and associations developed in Prime Timers get folks out of the house and on the go.
• Prime Timers is social only, not political. You don't have to be out. We protect your identity.
• Prime Timers provides an outlet, other than bars, to meet people.

Annual dues are $30.00 for singles and $50.00 for couples. Application requests may be made via this page primetimer_houston@yahoo.com or by leaving a message on the information line (713)867-3903. Or, download, print and mail in a membership form using the link below.

Board meetings are held monthly and members are invited to attend. A newsletter and event calendar are published monthly. The calendar of events is also on the information line and the web site. You do not need to be a member to attend a function so drop by one that interests you.

SOCIAL EVENTS

Here are some of the things we do:

• THEATRE - We attend professional and amateur plays, musicals, reviews, etc.
• DINE-A-RAMA - We go to a new or unusual restaurant twice a month and balance between inexpensive and moderate price range.
• BRUNCH - We often schedule a Brunch instead of or in addition to a Dine-A-Rama.
• MOVIES - All kinds; popular, arty and weird! Usually have coffee afterward.
• POT LUCK DINNERS - We meet at a member's home and everyone brings food.
• WEEKEND DAY TRIPS - Galveston Island, Mardi Gras, dog and horse races, Lake Charles casinos.
• DAYTIMERS - Get together with other guys who are off during the day for museums, matinees, lunch, etc. The Daytimers meet every Thursday at a local restaurant for lunch.
